The sport on a broad level doesn’t always show nice pictures: uneven gaits, ridden with rigid hands, not over the back.
Ill as well as ill-formed backs are often the cause. Osteopathy can assist here and is being sought for more and more.
However, having a look at the cause for the malice is of great importance, so the equipment being used as well as the rider’s influence have to be taken into consideration when establishing a concept to develop an individual treatment.
Of our clients, 90 percent have saddles that don’t fit. Surely there’s not a well-skilled saddle-maker around every corner, however many riders lack the basic knowledge about a well-fitting saddle and the need to adjust / replace the saddle a few times throughout the span of a horse’s life depending to it’s development.
We try to supply this basic knowledge during our sessions and show up existing problems.
A missing back-muscle doesn’t redevelop in a wink of an eye and perpetual ground-work and lunging is unacceptable for the owner of a horse.
The Barefoot System has convinced us.
The Barefoot can simply adjust to the situation of the muscle development of the horse’s back, even on difficult horses in recovery after therapy and during a rest period and it “grows along”. I also use the saddles during phases of rehabilitation on a rental basis for the rider so the horse can develop healthy back muscles again – the system gives them the needed space.
Horse owners are often surprised when their mount suddenly doesn’t refuse being saddles and quits prancing but begins to travel forward – also long and low - without hesitation under the saddle, engaging in a ground covering stride. The rider’s seat becomes anew, improving his influence on the horse. Many are surprised in regard of the cost-performance ratio and the superb quality of the Barefoot saddles. Not much convincing is needed to sell one.
We also use the Barefoot on our horse (from a youngster to a tested show-horse), one saddle for horses of different age, stage of training and physical condition, which can easily be adjusted with by a few manoeuvres (exchanging the fork).
For riders with several horses as well as professional trainers / instructors this means a not only horsefriendly but also least-costly possibility to use just one saddle, knowing it fits him well.
