Being a physiotherapist for animals and treating numerous back problems, I often discover the discrepancy between building-up muscles knowing very well that the saddle that’s being used should be re-fitted every 2-3 weeks in order to go match the muscular development.

If the saddle is not adjusted, the established back muscles soon are trapped: pressure points develop because the saddle is too tight. The blood supplementation for the muscling is not sufficient and thus causes it to shrink. The Barefoot Saddlesystem offers an ideal solution: Due to its flexibility, the saddle can adapt to the changing muscles without interfering them.

I was convinced when I used it on an older mare with sway-back and problems with her legs: she obviously didn’t feel well underneath her old saddle and moved reluctantly. Saddled with a Barefoot, she suddenly encountered enough space to move her forehand as well as her back – and her rider could feel her really go forward without resistance for the very first time.

My own mare with bone-spavin warms-up and becomes supple much faster when ridden with the Barefoot saddle, when compared to a conventional saddle.

I firmly believe that the Barefoot Saddle can help prevent back problems from being developed.
